Mobility maintenance for conductors
Engage in mobility maintenance to improve fluidity of motion, posture awareness, alignment, joint movement and stability. Help reduce wear-and-tear on your instrument. A healthy mind in a pain-free body for a longer, expressive career!
Why MD Mobility Magic?
What really hit home, was that in spite of conductors having a very physical job (their body is literally their instrument), there was no education or helpful simple system that enabled brain, body and breath connection, along with centered mobility.Â
When putting some targeted questions out to conductors at large, it became even clearer that only the fitness oriented kind of people amongst them do any kind of physical prep or habitual maintenance routines. Fitness-oriented conductors are the minority - the same as in the general population. This is the ongoing challenge of the health & fitness industry. The ones who gravitate to it, will do it. . . but the ones who truly need it and are quite overwhelmed or intimidated by it, won’t.Â
This led us to create this accessible easy tool that conductors can use daily to maintain mobility and load-centered balance in their mindful movement, which is integral to their instrument: their body! It will help anyone of any age - but if we can instill it into the younger emerging conductor generation, perhaps those many rotator cuff injuries and overall joint pain will drop and minimise the need for surgery. And as an added benefit, MD careers can have quality longevity so we can continue bringing joy through live music!
